A 42-year-old woman was rescued by Toledo police while being attacked by two dogs early Wednesday morning.
Responding at 12:48 a.m. to an emergency animal problem in the 600 block of Leach Avenue, officers could hear a woman screaming and dogs growling when they arrived at the residence in an apartment complex, according to a police report. They forced open the back door and found the woman “being viciously attacked by two pit bulls,” the report said.
With the assistance of two additional officers, police were able to contain the dogs and render aid to the woman identified by police as Angel Villagomez.
Ms. Villagomez was transported by Toledo Fire & Rescue to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
Three dogs were surrendered to the Lucas County Canine Care & Control, the police report said.
