This was not the officer's first generous gesture. In 2025, Reavie spent over $3,000 to take students to Hurricane Harbor. He organized a waterpark trip the previous year. Reavie served six years as a child crimes detective during his career. That experience inspired him to start a nonprofit organization. He founded Put On The Cape: A Foundation For Hope. The charity is now in its 12th year.

Reavie explained how the superhero charity began. "It dawned on me that little kids who were scared responded to superheroes," Reavie said. Officers and causeplayers dress as superheroes for events.
