TEXARKANA, Texas – Three Texarkana police officers rescued a woman with special needs from a house fire on Sunday.
Officers Kevin Buck, Kevin Cornelius and Ty Ford responded to the fire on Knotty Pine around 12:30 a.m. and were told a woman with special needs was in a back bedroom, unable to get out of bed.
The fire department had not yet arrived so the officers ran into the house as smoke was filling it and successfully pulled her out of a window.
The three officers were treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene, and they and the woman rescued were all fine.
“I am so proud of the heroism of these three officers and them putting service above self. Their quick thinking and selfless actions saved this person's life. Once again, our officers have demonstrated ONE TEAM Exhibiting Excellence Every Day," Police Chief Kevin Schutte said in a social media post.
