INGLESIDE, IL — A police dog in Lake County is being credited with bringing a girl to safety after she wandered away from a camp in Ingleside last week.

Lake County Sheriff's Office K9 Odin and Deputy Savage were called to the camp on Wednesday night to assist in finding a girl who ran away, according to a post on the Lake County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Odin tracked for nearly a mile in the rain before finding the girl hiding in a wooded area near the perimeter of the camp, according to authorities.

The girl was not hurt and was reunited with her parents.
