MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF)--The Miamisburg Police Department joined a national program bringing joy to children that have experienced a traumatic event, packaging care kits with special items.

"That could be that they unfortunately had to see a relative get arrested, it could be that they were in a traffic accident, it could be that they're lost and just need something to hold onto to for a little bit," said Sergeant Josiah Keefer of Miamisburg PD.

LexisNexis partnered with Miamisburg Police for the ‘RELX Cares Program’, which happens all across the country. The program encourages company employees to participate in volunteer work and give back to those in need. RELX brought it back to the Miami Valley for another year with both the Miamisburg and Moraine police departments.

This year, the departments packed care kits with teddy bears, coloring books, and crayons in hopes of helping a child smile after being put through a tough situation.
